Rum River Blend

 

            Join us at the Historic Tipp City Roller Mill Theater for a special concert on Thursday evening, July 9th at 7 pm.  Local favorite band Rum River Blend will host a tribute concert to celebrate Carl Phillis’ 93rd birthday! 

Carl has been playing fiddle for over 80 years, and has played in many bands including the Carl Phillis Orchestra, back in the day!  Carl currently plays with Rum River Blend (and a number of other bands!)  Stop by Tuesday night and enjoy the show and some cake and wish Carl a happy 92nd birthday!
 

          Currently based in Troy, Ohio, RRB, plays music to have fun and bill themselves as ‘Unprofessional Entertainment’.  The band is led by entertainer and musician Linda Tatarian, lead vocalist playing 5-string banjo.  Her husband, Chris Tatarian plays rhythm guitar and sings back-up vocals.  Linda & Chris are the ‘roots’ of RRB and have been playing together for over 20 years.  The bass beat for RRB is provided by ‘Smiling’ Bill Benning of Troy, OH, playing acoustic/electric bass guitar. Mr. Carl Phillis, also of Troy, joins in on fiddle.  Carl is the 1948 Ohio State Fiddle Champion.  Mr. Mark Acton joins in on mandolin and sings everything from bass to tenor, lead and back up. Put ‘em all together and the result is music that makes you want to tap your foot and sing along!
